How is the Nestera Automatic Door Opener powered?
The Automatic Door Opener for Nestera recycled plastic chicken coops are powered by 4 x AA batteries (not included).

Why is the low battery warning light flashing when I’ve replaced the batteries?
The warning light works on a voltage basis and therefore won’t give a false reading. Check the batteries you’re using are new and fully charged.

Why does the LCD display not stay illuminated?
Don’t worry, this is normal. To preserve battery life, the LCD display is designed to enter ‘sleep mode’ after a period of inactivity. You can ‘wake’ it again by pressing the Menu button.

My Automatic Door Opener is set up correctly but it’s not working...
Please ensure all 4 x AA batteries are new and inserted correctly, and that the battery cable wire is not being pinched between the lid and the box. It’s also worth checking that any connector cables haven’t been accidentally loosened while fitting the unit. Why is my Automatic Door Opener displaying the ‘Door Jam’ message?
This indicates that the motor in the unit is having difficulty lifting the coop door. This could be for one of two reasons; either your door is not sliding easily in its runners, or the cord is tangled. Make sure the runners that hold the coop’s door in place are free from debris, and then open the unit to ensure the cord is wound correctly on its spindle. Please note, the unit cannot be recalibrated with the lid removed, and simply removing and reinserting the batteries will not clear a ‘Door Jam’ message.

Why isn’t the light sensor working on my Automatic Door Opener?
The light sensor is designed to activate the coop door over a gradual light change. This ensures the door isn’t opened automatically in a lightning storm or in car headlights, for example. The sensor takes an average light reading every three minutes to account for this. Please note, if your automatic door opener is positioned near a floodlight or streetlight, this may affect the light sensor. It is best to position your coop away from ambient lighting.

How long is the cord on the Nestera Automatic Door Opener?
The cord provided with the unit is 4.9ft long. Please bear in mind that this includes a small length that needs to remain wound around the spindle inside the unit.

Will the clock on the unit change automatically when the clocks go forwards/back?
No, this needs to be done manually on the settings. Don't worry, it only takes a moment.

I decided once I received it that I was too worried about predators to use it, and would just use the manual lock on the door. I returned it, but I’ve not received any notification about my return.

I purchased two coops last spring and soon after purchased a door opener for each of them. Nearly a year later, I'm to the point that I have resigned myself to altering the shape of the door so that I can install traditional roll-up automatic doors. I'm finding the programming to be unreliable so that they don't necessarily open in the morning or close at night. They do work to the extent that I know I've programmed them correctly; however, after a few days one or both will inevitably stop functioning within the parameters of my settings despite the batteries being new. Moreover, bedding perpetually gets in the way of the door's path so that they don't close securely. We have to go out and check the doors every morning and evening, which defeats the purpose of having automatic doors. I really enjoy the coops, so this is a bummer. I'm not happy about spending more than $350 only to have to buy new doors. On a more positive note, I will say that when one of them stopped working completely, customer service was wonderful and sent a new one, no questions asked. I sincerely appreciate that. I'm happy that those who have already written reviews are happy with their openers. I just can't overlook what I see as a design flaw (the track rarely being clear for the door to move freely) and the unreliability of the doors' programming no matter how many times I go out and check it to ensure I programmed it correctly.

The door works perfectly now, I wasn’t sure how to edit my original previous review, but wanted to acknowledge that the problems were due to installing the door inside out. It’s a great product.
